050 - A Life Devoted to Photography - Torin Halsey Interview
In this episode I sit down with Mr. Torin Halsey. A man who has devoted the past 35+ years of his life to photography. Torin is currently the Chief Photographer at the Wichita Falls Times Record News, a regional newspaper in North Texas. In addition "day job" with the newspaper, he also has grown a strong side business, where he shoots as well.
A few years ago, when I started getting serious about photography and was running into some big roadblocks, it was Torin who I reached out to and asked for help. He's a great man with a strong portfolio that spans decades.
Key takeaways:
Before photography, Torin was a butcher.
Failure is natural, and it happens to us all.
Most photojournalists have two cameras on assignment - one with a medium / wide lens and one with a telephoto lens.
Photojournalism is powerful - you're able to capture such a wide spectrum of subject matter - from concerts to fashion to car wrecks to architecture to NFL / MLB games and much more.
Passion projects are essential, and can be the saving grace to prevent burnout and ensure a long career.
Come along with me...
